“The Grand Lama’s Journey: Kunkhyen Pema Karpo’s Teachings and Influence”

The 19th-century Bhutan painting depicts Pema Karpo, a central figure surrounded by deities and Buddhist masters Marpa, Milarepa, and Marpa, with the primordial Buddha Vajradhara above. 

Kunkhyen Pema Karpo

The fourth Gyalwang Drukpa and head of the Drukpa lineage in  Tibetan Buddhism was Kunkhyen Pema Karpo. Of all the Gyalwang Drukpas, he was the most well-known and knowledgeable. Known as the grand lama among all grand lamas throughout his lifetime, he taught countless lamas and pupils throughout Tibet.
