At the 12th General Assembly of the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace in New Delhi, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was appointed as the “Universal Supreme Leader of the Buddhist World.” Focused on “The Buddhist Voice of the Global South,” the conference also established July 6 as the “Universal Day of Compassion” to commemorate His Holiness’s birthday.
